Reinier Zonneveld

When it comes to stadium-sized techno, Dutch tastemaker Reinier Zonneveld reigns supreme. Over the past 13 years, he’s emerged as one of the Netherlands’ most prolific producers, DJs, event organisers and label founders. He’s become a beacon for a new generation of ravers, drawn to his fast-paced, bruising beats that fuse the sensibility of techno’s past with the cutting-edge sound design of its future.

But there’s more to Reinier Zonneveld than just a leading producer of acid techno. He’s the founder of the acclaimed Filth On Acid record label, as well as being a world record-breaking live act, regularly playing in 13,000+ capacity venues. Plus, he’s the visionary behind the technologically forward-thinking Festival. He’s also a highly versatile musician, with his range having been displayed through recent genre-blurring tracks like 2024’s melodic ‘Time’ ft. Kiki Solvej and the summery dance/pop ‘Mama Maria’ featuring Bloom Twins.

Classically trained on piano from the age of three, Reinier studied econometrics and earned two master’s degrees at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, where his devotion to dance and electronic music began. He started to release obscure, wonky minimal club cuts in the early 2010s, delivering minimal sounds like ‘Vuur’, ‘Flashers’, ‘Find Muck’ and ‘Remember’ in 2012, followed by his debut album, the highly diverse Reverse Psychology LP in 2013.

2015 pointed Reinier directly towards techno, showcased initially on the EPs Make Me A Promise and Final Judgement and on 2016’s album Megacity Servant on Stil vor Talent, featuring the smash-hit ‘Things We Might Have Said’ with Cari Golden. This sound was perfectly displayed on his monumental fourth album Heaven Is Mad (For You), featuring some of his biggest tracks to date, including two of his most-streamed tracks: ‘Dance With The Devil (The 6th Gate)’ (16M+ streams) and ‘Move Your Body To The Beat’ (29M+).

Reinier founded his label and community-based platform, Filth on Acid, in 2017, which for seven years has led the way, consistently ranking #1 in Beatport’s techno charts via big hits like ‘Believe’ by Eli Brown and Space 92’s ‘Polaris’. He has since seen achievements, such as winning the Dance category in the Edison Award in 2024, which is the Netherlands' largest Pop music award show. Now approaching its 200th release, set to be marked through a series of special releases, Filth On Acid continues to dominate hard techno without ever compromising its underground ethos. It’s through his label that Reinier’s been able to utilise his uniquely collaborative spirit, working with artists from across the spectrum, from mainstream heavyweights like Brazil star Alok and Oliver Heldens to underground icons such as Speedy J, Angerfist, Scooter and long-time inspiration Carl Cox. These partnerships come without genre constraints – a reflection of Reinier’s open-ended musical philosophy. Whether it’s techno, hard dance, house, or a hybrid of them all, his productions are united by a signature energy, crafted with precision and purpose.
